The Scotland County Detention Center is the main jail in the county, housing sentenced and unsentenced individuals. It has a daily average population of 180 inmates with around 3600 bookings. The facility is headed by Major Bryan “BJ” Knight. It is located at 212 Biggs Street in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates housed in the Scotland County Detention Center may receive mail from family and friends. Incoming mail must have the sender’s complete name and return address on the envelope. Letters must be written in ink. Inmates are allowed to possess a maximum of three photographs printed on regular copy paper at any given time. All correspondence must be addressed to the name under which the inmate was booked in. The staff of the facility will scan all correspondence except for legal mail into a .PDF file. Funds can be deposited into an inmate’s account for their commissary purchases. Family members and friends can deposit money using the kiosk located in the main lobby of the detention center. The kiosk is available for use 24/7. It accepts cash, credit cards, and debit cards. There is a convenience fee of $3 for every transaction. Deposits can also be made online through the McDaniel Supply Company website.

Visitation Hours

Inmates housed in the Scotland County Detention Center are allowed visitation. Each inmate is allowed one on-site visit per week. Only one person is allowed to visit an inmate at a time unless they are accompanied by a minor. No more than 3 children are allowed at a time. On-site visitation hours are as follows:

Monday thru Sunday 7:30am-11:30am / 1:00pm-4:30pm / 7:00pm-9:00pm (Excluding Holidays)

Tuesday’s male inmates’s with last names beginning with F-J.

Wednesday’s female inmates.

Thursday’s male inmates with last names beginning with K-D.

Friday’s male inmate’s with last name beginning with P-T.

Saturday’s males inmate’s with last names beginning with U-Z.

Sunday’s for those who live more than 100 miles from Scotland County.

Online visitation is also allowed in the Scotland County Detention Center. Video visits are conducted through the Homewav platform. Inmates can have an unlimited number of online visits. Requests for video visitation are approved by the Jail Administrator. Take note that online visits cost $0.45 per minute.

The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office maintains a list of all inmates currently in their custody online. The list is arranged alphabetically based on last names. Each inmate has a profile that displays their complete name, mugshot, age, race, sex, booking number, booking date, arresting agency, arresting date and time, bond, and charges.
