How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates at the New Hanover County Detention Facility may receive mail. All mail will be inspected for contraband except for privileged mail. Make sure to include the sender’s name and return address. All incoming mail for inmates must be addressed as such:

Funds can be deposited into an inmate’s account in several ways. Money orders can be mailed to the inmate. Make sure to make it payable to New Hanover County and write the inmate’s name in the “memo” section. Cash can be deposited using the automated kiosk located in the front lobby of the facility. Visitation Hours

Inmates at the New Hanover County Detention Facility are allowed visitation. Each inmate is given two 45-minute visits per week. He/she is permitted to have up to two adult guests per visit. Visits need to be scheduled beforehand by the inmate. Visitation is held daily from 1pm to 9pm.

The New Hanover County Sheriff has an online database for the inmates currently residing in its detention facility. The database can be filtered according to the inmate’s name, age, sex, race, etc. Each inmate’s file contains his/her complete name, age, photo, arrest date, race/sex, charges, status, and bond amount.
