The Gaston County Jail is responsible for housing male state pretrial inmates as well as convicted inmates who are serving their sentences. The facility also houses pretrial federal inmates for the United States Marshal’s Office for a daily fee of $73. The jail can house up to 368 inmates.

The Gaston County Jail Annex, on the other hand, is responsible for housing male and female pretrial inmates, convicted inmates, and individuals who are sentenced with court-ordered work release. The Federal Bureau of Prisons also contracts with the facility to house sentenced federal inmates on the Federal Work Release program at a cost of $80 per day. This facility has a total bed capacity of 176. Its operating inmate capacity is 159.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates housed in the Gaston County Jail and Annex may receive mail from family and friends. All incoming mail with the exception of privileged mail will need to be opened and inspected for contraband. It also needs to include the sender’s complete address and full name. Any mail that has no return address will be sent back to the Post Office unopened. To send mail to an inmate, be sure to address it in the following manner:

Funds may be deposited into an inmate’s account using the kiosk located in the main lobby of the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office as well as the one found in the lobby of the Gaston County Jail Annex. Money can also be deposited online by visiting team3.inmatecanteen.com.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are allowed one visit per week. Inmate workers, on the other hand, are allowed two on-site visits per week. Each visit will last 25 minutes. Only 4 people are allowed per visit for on-site visitations. All visits need to be scheduled either at the front lobby of the Annex or by visiting the website ICSolutions.com.
