How to Send Mail or Package
Inmates housed in the Buncombe County Detention Facility may write and receive letters. They are allowed to receive photos, but cannot possess more than 10. All incoming mail will be inspected for contraband before getting delivered to the inmate. Inmates may only receive incoming mail from Monday through Friday except during holidays. Inmates are also allowed to receive funds in their commissary accounts through the kiosk located in the lobby of the Detention Facility. Family and friends may also deposit funds online through the JailATM website.
Visitation Hours
Inmates at the Buncombe County Detention Facility are allowed visitation. All visits need to be scheduled by the visitor and must be made at least 24 hours in advance. On site visitations are held from Monday through Friday from 9am to 10:30am and 1pm to 3:30pm. Saturday on site visitation is held from 11am to 3:30pm. All visits are limited to 20 minutes. For first-time visits, you can schedule them by calling the front desk of the Detention Facility at (828) 250-4610 or (828) 250-4557. Additional visits can be scheduled online.
The Buncombe County Detention Facility maintains an online jail roster that lists all the inmates currently housed in the facility. Each inmate’s profile contains his/her mug shot, complete name, age, height, gender, weight, race, arrest date, court date, primary charge, and total bond amount. To locate an inmate here, you can use the search function using any of the information that is contained in the inmate’s profile. For example, you can search based on the inmate’s last name, age, arrest date, holding facility, and primary charge.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is the chief law enforcement agency in the county. It provides a wide range of services to the public such as animal control, conducting patrols, criminal investigations, and mentoring youths. The head of the BCSO is Sheriff Quentin E. Miller.
