The Craven County Detention Facility is located at 1100 Clarks Road in New Bern, NC. It has a capacity for 325 inmates. It is responsible for housing individuals who are awaiting trial and those who are serving their sentence.

How to Send Mail or Package

While inmates housed in the Craven County Jail are allowed to receive personal mail, it will not be accepted at the facility’s address. Instead, all incoming mail should be sent to the address below. All incoming mail will be scanned into the system, making them viewable on the Securus ConnectUs® terminal and SecureView Tablet®* supplied to the inmates.

Money can be deposited in the inmate’s account online by visiting the JailATM website. To deposit money, users will need to create an account, locate the facility on the list, and enter the inmate’s name. Deposits can be made using a credit card.

Visitation Hours

Due to COVID-19 precautions, all on-site visitations are cancelled until further notice at the Craven County Jail. Instead, each inmate will be allowed one free off-site video visit per week. To schedule a visit, you may get in touch with the Jail Administration by calling (252) 636-6675 or (252) 636-6587 during normal business hours.

Off-Site Hour- 7-Days a week including weekends and Holidays:
Morning Hours Starts 9:15 am last for morning starts 11:45 am
Afternoon Hours: Start 2:15 pm last for afternoon starts 4:15 pm
Evening Hours: Start 8:00 pm last for evening starts 10:00 pm

When on-site visitation commences, each inmate will be allowed one free 20-minute visit per week. All visits are conducted through video monitors. Visitors may schedule a visit by registering a Securus Online account. On-site visitation is held Mondays through Friday, except on holidays. The hours are as follows:
