Cleveland County Court

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office manages two detention facilities. The Cleveland County Detention Center is located at 407 McBrayer Street while the Law Enforcement Detention Center can be found at 100 Justice Place. Both facilities are in Shelby, North Carolina. The facilities are manned by a staff of 68 full-time detention officers.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates housed in the Cleveland County Detention Center are allowed to receive mail. All incoming mail will be inspected for contraband. It should include the sender’s complete name and return address. To send mail to an inmate, you must address it in the following manner:

Funds can be sent to inmates at the detention center through several ways. Money can be sent online by visiting the website Jailpackstore.com. It can also be deposited using the kiosk in the lobby of the detention center at 407 McBrayer Street. Money orders and cashier’s checks can be sent through mail to the address below. Make sure to include the inmate’s full name, date of birth, or SSN on the money order or cashier’s check.

Visitation Hours

Inmates confined at the Cleveland County Detention Center and the Law Enforcement Detention Center are allowed visitation. For both facilities, visits are held on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 1pm to 3:45pm. The schedule for visitation is dependent on the inmate’s last name.

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office maintains an online database of all inmates currently housed in its two facilities. Each inmate has a profile which contains his/her photo, complete name, age, race/sex, arrest date, court date, charges, status, and bond amount.

The Sheriff’s Office also posts its Most Wanted List online. The list contains the individual’s photo, name, race, sex, age, height, and weight. The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for providing law enforcement services to the communities in the county. These services include enforcing state and local laws, conducting patrols, investigating crimes, working with schools, and providing court security. The head of the CCSO is Sheriff Alan Norman. He is assisted by Chief Deputy Durwin Briscoe in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the entire agency.
