The Rockingham County Detention Center houses individuals awaiting trial as well as those serving short term misdemeanor sentences. The facility can house up to 232 inmates. It is staffed with more than 50 full-time and part-time officers. Family and friends can send letters to inmates housed in the Rockingham County Detention Center. The facility uses a company to have all non-legal mail scanned electronically. The physical mail will be destroyed after scanning. All scanned mail will be reviewed by staff before becoming accessible to the inmate using their tablets. Family members and friends can leave money for inmates at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office on weekdays from 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm. Money orders must be made payable to the inmate. No money orders will be accepted on weekends and holidays.

Visitation Hours

Inmates at the Rockingham County Detention Center are granted visitation. The facility uses the Homewav platform for video visitation. The schedule for on-site visitation is as follows:

Fridays from 1:30pm – 3:30pm and 7pm – 8:30pm
Saturdays from 1:30 pm – 5pm
Sundays from 1:30 pm – 5pm

All visitors need to be on the inmate visitation list. They need to be signed in at least 15 minutes before visiting hours end. Only 4 visitors are allowed per inmate each week. All visitors need to be at least 16 years old.
