The Lee County Jail is the main detention facility in the county. It houses individuals who have been charged and are awaiting trial as well as those serving sentences. It has a daily average population of 124 inmates and approximately 2480 bookings per year. The facility is located at 1401 Elm Street in Sanford, North Carolina.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates housed in the Lee County Jail may receive mail from family members and friends. All incoming mail must include the sender’s complete name and return address. It will be opened and inspected for contraband. Some of the contents that are considered inappropriate include threats of physical harm, indecent material, polaroid pictures, and cash. To send mail to an inmate, please follow the format below:

Funds may be deposited into an inmate’s account for their personal use. Family and friends may use the lobby kiosk to deposit money or visit the JailATM website. The kiosk is available for use every day from 8am to 8pm.

Visitation Hours

Inmates housed in the Lee County Jail are allowed visitation. Each inmate is limited to 20 minutes and will be held at the main visiting area right beside the Control Room. All visits are non-contact visits. Visits need to be approved by the staff. To schedule a visit, you can call 919-718-4567. The schedule for visitation is as follows:

Saturday

Female Block: 1:00pm to 1:20pm
Male Dorm: 1:30pm to 1:50pm
A Block: 2:00pm to 2:50pm
B Block: 3:00pm to 4:00pm

Sunday

Segregation: 1:00 pm to 1:20pm
Female Dorm: 1:30pm to 1:50pm
C Block: 2:00pm to 2:50pm
D Block: 3:00pm to 4:00pm

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office maintains an online list of all inmates currently held in their facility. The list is arranged alphabetically by last name, but it can be sorted according to age, race, sex, and admit date. The list is also searchable using the same filters. Each inmate’s profile contains his/her complete name, photo, name and local ID, date of birth, physical description, admit date and time, address, housing location, and charges.
