The Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center is an adult detention facility with a maximum security level. This 400,000 square-foot facility houses pretrial and sentenced misdemeanant male and female inmates. The building has a twin story structure with eleven stories and contains 735 modular cells. It can house up to 1,016 inmates. The Detention Center can be found in downtown Winston-Salem.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center may receive mail from family members and friends. However, except for privileged mail, all general correspondence will be photocopied. Inmates will receive the photocopies while the original correspondence will be shredded. To send mail to an inmate, make sure to address it in the following manner:

Inmates at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center may receive funds from family members and friends. Deposits can be made into an inmate’s account through several ways. You can call the toll-free number 866-345-1884. You may visit the website inmatedeposits.com or use the Access Correction app. You may also use the kiosk located in the back of the lobby of the detention center. Another option is to make a cash deposit in a store such as 7-Eleven, CVS, Family Dollar, and Dollar General. In order to do this, you will need to register at cashpaytoday.com and get a barcode.

Visitation Hours

Inmates housed at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center are allowed visitation with family members and friends. Each inmate is allowed two adult visits per week. Visitation hours are as follows:

9:00 – 11:30 am
1:00 – 3:00 pm
5:30 – 7:30 pm

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office maintains an online database of all inmates currently housed in their facility. The list of inmates is arranged alphabetically according to last name. Each inmate has a profile that contains their complete name, photo, age, race/sex, arrest date, charges, bond, and next court date.

The Sheriff’s Office also posts its Most Wanted List online. Its post contains the suspect’s photo along with his name, race, sex, age, height, and weight. It also contains what the person is wanted for, when the warrant was issued, and any physical characteristics that may help the public recognize him.
